Surgical Short Stay Unit

The Surgical Short Stay Unit (SSSU) is a twenty-three bed short stay surgical unit which has a ten bedded Elective Surgery Unit (ESU) attached. The Surgical Short Stay Unit is a surgical unit where patients can be discharged on the same day or stay up to twenty-three hours post operation. The Elective Surgery Unit is for pre-operative patients on the day of surgery who will need to go to the main hospital after a short stay in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU).

Park in the Pay and Display visitor and patient car park at the front of the hospital. Follow the green signs to the Surgical Short Stay Unit which is situated at the very front corner of the hospital (Level B).

Please note that the unit cannot be accessed from inside the main hospital building.
