Dietitians provide evidence based, practical advice about food & nutrition. People with Gastrointestinal (GI) conditions will benefit from this advice to help them manage their condition and to help reduce the risks of long-term health complications. Examples include:
Your GP or doctor you are seeing at the hospital can refer you to see a dietitian. Once we receive this referral, you will be sent a letter via post giving you an appointment date, time and location.
Your appointment letter will confirm the location of your appointment.
Our 1:1 clinic appointments are held at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, in Outpatients 3.
Please use the machines to check in for your appointment in Outpatients 3 and then take a seat.
If you have IBS, you may require advice on a low FODMAP diet and be invited to one of our FODMAP group sessions. These are held in the Education Centre at the Royal Surrey County Hospital on a Wednesday morning.
If you are attending a 1:1 clinic appointment, please bring a record of what you have eaten and drunk over the last few days. A three day food diary should have been included with your appointment letter, which you can use if you wish. It is also useful to bring a list of any medications or supplements you are taking.
Please contact the department as soon as possible. This can be by telephone or email.
