Blood (Haematology) cancer

We provide treatment to patients with malignant (cancerous) and non-malignant (non-cancerous) haematological  conditions (blood disorders).

Haematology cancers or blood cancers happen when your blood cells do not develop properly.

The most common blood cancers are:

  • Leukaemia
  • Lymphoma
  • Myeloma

However, there are other blood cancers called:

  • Myelodysplasia
  • Myeloproliferative neoplasms

Other services that the Haematology Team provide

  • General haematology: management of benign blood disorders.
  • Haemostasis and thrombosis: disorders of the blood clotting system.
  • Anticoagulation: management of patients requiring thinning of their blood.
  • Provision of blood products for transfusion.
