Guildford Public - Daniel Bishop - Deputy Lead Governor

Daniel Bishop - Guildford Public Governor

I was elected as a Public Governor for Guildford in 2021. I have lived in Guildford for nine years, having arrived originally as a student at the University, during which time I started cancer treatment at the Royal Surrey and have been a regular patient since. As a member of the Teenage/Young Adult Cancer patient group, I am particularly interested in representing the Trust’s younger patients. I am passionate about the NHS and hope that my experiences will allow me to contribute towards the work of the Council of Governors in their support for the Trust Board delivering this excellent care to a wide range of people.

I studied Music and Sound Recording at University, and now work as a senior manager for a charity in London which support chair people in their leadership of charities, particularly around good governance. Elsewhere, I am also a member of the Youth Board of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, a charity supporting young people in their recovery from cancer through outdoor activities.
