Education and Training

The Education and Training team provide strategic planning, governance and training of pharmacy staff.

Who do we provide training to?

 

  • Apprentices

  • Placements for work experience students and undergraduate students

  • Pre-registration Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians

  • Post registration training for Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technicians

  • Other healthcare professionals e.g. Doctors and Nurses

What are our responsibilities?

 

  • Ensure there are systems and processes in place to develop learning programmes, teaching and assessment for pharmacy trainees.

  • To support the delivery and development of training programmes and ensuring quality assurance.

  • To ensure robust monitoring and reporting mechanisms (with due regard to confidentiality).

  • To receive structured feedback from trainee representatives and educational supervisors for each educational programme.

  • To provide regular reports to the local academic board (LAB).

What does the training involve?

Within the workplace, you will rotate through all areas of the pharmacy department, working alongside our friendly and experienced team.

You will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in dispensing, non-sterile and aseptic product production, distribution and ordering, medicines management and patient safety depending on the training programme.

Pre-registration Pharmacists:

We nationally recruit to our pre-registration pharmacist programme through Oriel.

Pre-registration trainee Pharmacy Technician:

We recruit to our pre-registration trainee Pharmacy Technician through NHS jobs.

A minimum of four GCSEs at Grade A*-C including mathematics, english language and two science subjects.

Mature candidates will need a minimum of four GCSEs at Grade A*-C including mathematics, english language and two science subjects or equivalent.

 

*Please note you will need to bring certification evidence to interview. We cannot interview you without these.

 

Work Experience & Summer Placements:

We recruit to summer placements as a region with Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
